BRANDING & LOGO USE Home
Why is Brand Important?
A consistent brand builds recognition, trust, and credibility. It shapes perceptions, influences how the district is viewed in terms of academic excellence, inclusivity, and innovation, and can even impact student enrollment, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
When a brand is consistent in its messaging, visual identity, and tone, it becomes easily recognizable, allowing audiences to form clear associations with its values and offerings. For organizations like school districts, it ensures that every communication, from websites to newsletters, reinforces the district’s mission, culture, and commitment to excellence.
How to Use the Brand & Style Guide
Our district has developed brand and style guidelines as a strategic step to ensure brand uniformity. When creating print or digital, or online marketing materials, please refer to these guidelines, so that together, we can continue to build a stronger, consistent brand presence. Below is a shortened version for viewing purposes only. It does not replace the entirety of the District’s branding and style guide. Please refer to it when needing to request the use of the district’s logo or when communicating digitally, via the Web, social media, app, or print.

USING THE MORGAN COUNTY R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT BRAND
The Morgan County R-II School District (MCR2) has intentionally invested time and resources into our district brand designs to establish a look and feel that generates integrity, pride, and tradition. For this reason, the District also has a responsibility to ensure all brand elements are used appropriately in order to protect its intended representation.
As of the spring of the 2025/2026 school year, we are implementing a new system to help us track and ensure proper brand use by school groups, vendors, and anyone incorporating the MCR2 brand into public-facing materials, apparel, gear, etc.
-
STEPS FOR STARTING A BRANDING PROJECT
- Complete a Brand Project Request Form for every project that includes the MCR2 brand. Examples: uniforms, clothing/apparel, signs, posters, banners, gear, etc. Anyone associated with the project can be designated to complete the form, including a school group representative, MCR2 employees/organizations/coaches, or a vendor.
- If you are working with a vendor for the project, they MUST either be currently listed on the MCR2 approved vendor list or they will need to register to be listed before any production of products begins. The project will not be approved without the vendor first being approved for the current school year.
- Once the District approves the project to proceed, you will receive an email indicating the project is approved and a project number. The project number needs to be provided to your vendor as well.
- Work with your group and the approved vendor to follow the MCR2 brand and style guidelines. Designs must use District-approved colors, fonts, and logos outlined in our district's Branding & Style Guide. If a vendor recommends not using a design for a brand guideline reason, please listen to them. Any design not aligning with guidelines will not be approved.
- You or your vendor will submit the project design, along with the Brand Project Number, to the MCR2 design review contact for approval before starting production. Design Review Contact - Nicole Whitfield.
- You will receive a response that the design is approved, or you will be guided to make changes to follow brand guidelines. If approved, you may proceed with production. If changes are requested, you will need to resubmit designs until approved.

VENDOR REGISTRATION
To ensure the Morgan County R-II School District (MCR2) brand is used appropriately and within established guidelines, we are requiring all projects using the brand are produced by MCR2 approved vendors. We will provide an Approved Vendor List for the convenience of groups and individuals who would like to produce products (uniforms, apparel, gear, etc.) with the MCR2 brand.
All vendors producing materials with the MCR2 brand must complete a vendor application and sign a license agreement every school year. Once your application is approved and we receive the signed license agreement, you are approved for the entire school year unless notified otherwise. Producing products intentionally without vendor approval or not signing the license agreement may result in a legal ban from using the MCR2 brand temporarily or permanently.
Affiliate vs. Non-Affiliate Vendor Registrations & License Agreements
Vendors using the MCR2 brand to sell products for profit (Non-Affiliate Vendor) will be required to return royalty payments (10% of profit) to the school district per the Non-Affiliate License Agreement. Non-Affiliate vendors determine the item price, distribution, and sale (store, online, etc.) of independently produced products.
If you are a vendor working with a school group that will use the products as a fundraiser (“Affiliate Vendor”), you are not required to pay royalties. Affiliate vendors don't always determine the price to purchase finished products that are then sold by the group for fundraising purposes. Affiliate vendors also often sell items at cost to groups, teams, and activities and will not pay royalties per the Affliliate Agreement.

VENDOR REGISTRATION FOR THE YEAR
Submit a 2025-2026 Affiliate Vendor application or Non-Affiliate Vendor application. Some vendors submit both to cover all bases. Every brand project submitted for approval will be reviewed to ensure the vendor designing and/or producing the products/materials is registered appropriately and has signed agreements. Registering at the start of the school year helps expedite project approvals that may happen later in the year.
Sign and submit a 2025-2026 Affiliate License Agreement or Non-Affiliate License Agreement. Vendors will not be added to the Approved Vendor List and Brand Projects will not be approved until the vendor has both registered online (see Affiliate Registration or Non-Affliate Registration) and returned a copy of the signed license agreement.
Upon approval, vendors will receive an email confirmation from the MCR2 Communications Office. The vendor company name, contact, and email will be added to the Approved Vendor List for the remaining school year.

Logo File Formats
EPS
Use it for: Print
An EPS logo file is best used when the logo needs to be scaled without losing quality, making it ideal for high-resolution printing. This format is perfect for creating large-scale materials like banners, billboards, and merchandise, as well as for use in marketing materials such as brochures or business cards.
JPEG
Use it for: Web
A JPG logo file is suitable for use in situations where smaller file sizes are prioritized and high-resolution scaling isn't required. This format is ideal for web use, such as on websites, email signatures, or social media, where faster loading times are needed.
PNG
Use it for: Web
A PNG logo file is ideal for digital use, particularly when you need a transparent background. PNG files retain detail and clarity without quality loss, making them perfect for use on websites, social media, presentations, and digital documents.
Choosing the right file format for each logo is essential. When requesting a logo file, consider whether it will be used for digital display or print. If you are a staff member requesting a logo file, please provide purpose of use when requesting. If you are a vendor, you must be an approved business partner and complete a request form. Contact Nicole Whitfield at the Communications Office for more information.
Thank you for retaining our brand identity!
