2026-2027 School Bus Stop Policy Update

Purpose: To enhance the safety, security, and efficiency of student transportation, the Morgan County R-II School District will provide each eligible student with one primary transportation location.

  • A student's primary transportation location may be:

    • The student's primary residence, or
    • A daycare provider the student attends on a regular basis.

Transportation will not be provided to multiple babysitters, relatives’ homes, friends’ homes, or other alternate locations.

  • Students with court ordered or established joint custody arrangements may be assigned transportation to two residential addresses when all of the following conditions are met:

    • Both addresses are located within the Morgan County R-II School District transportation boundaries.
    • Parents or legal guardians provide the student's custody schedule to the school before the start of the school year or whenever the custody arrangement changes.
    • The custody schedule follows a consistent, recurring pattern, such as alternating weeks or designated weekdays.

Transportation will be provided according to the documented custody schedule. Requests for day to day or frequent transportation changes outside the approved schedule will not be accommodated.

To establish a joint custody transportation arrangement, parents or legal guardians must contact the Morgan County R-II Transportation Department Office at (573) 569-7015

  • Transportation assignments are intended to remain consistent throughout the school year. Requests for permanent changes due to a move, change in daycare, or change in custody arrangements should be submitted to the Transportation Director – Tiffany Sears as soon as possible.

Please allow up to three school days for processing, depending on route availability and driver notification.

  • Temporary transportation changes will only be considered in emergency situations, including hospitalization, death in the immediate family, serious illness, or other circumstances approved by the Transportation Director – Tiffany Sears.

Same day emergency requests must be received by 2:00 p.m. on regular school days.

Requests received after that time generally cannot be accommodated in order to ensure a safe and orderly dismissal for all students.

  • All transportation requests are subject to:

    • District transportation boundaries.
    • Bus capacity.
    • Existing bus routes and stop locations.
    • District transportation policies and procedures.

The Transportation Department reserves the right to deny or modify any transportation request that cannot be safely accommodated.

The Morgan County R-II School District appreciates the cooperation of our families as we work together to provide safe, consistent, and efficient transportation for all students.
